Athena can’t afford to paint. Jobless and skint, her husband, Aidan, jumps at his daughter Adele’s chance to host a seventeen-year-old Italian student in return for cash.
Letizia’s arrival changes everything. Adele’s relationship with best friend, Julie, takes a knock, the lid on Aidan’s PTSD is lifted, and it turns out Letizia has more in common with brother, Nick.
It is in only three months later at Christmas that an Anglo-Italiano showdown resolves unfinished business, Nick and Letizia tell each other how they really feel and Athena has a renaissance of her own, both on canvas and off once Aidan has had therapy.
Happy Chuffing Christmas explores the love-hate relationship of tight-knit families, the richness of poverty, the unpredictability of love and the true meaning of a family Christmas.
